Wildlife Smuggling Foiled by Dakshin Dinajpur District Police Acting on specific intelligence on 20.07.2026, a joint team of Gangarampur Police Station and the Special Operation Group (SOG) under Dakshin Dinajpur District Police conducted a raid at Khojapur under Gangarampur PS. During the operation, 14 Indian Softshell Turtles and 13 Indian Flapshell Turtles were rescued from the possession of the accused. Two persons were arrested, and a case has been registered under Wild Life Protection Act. The rescued turtles, being protected wildlife species, were recovered safely for further legal action. Any kind of illegal trade or illicit consumption of prohibited species is strictly prohibited by law.
